Museum Description

The Frissiras Museum was founded in December 2000. It is situated in Plaka, in two fully renovated buildings according to modern museological standards.
In the central building are housed parts of the permanent collection, which comprises more than 3000 paintings and sculptures of the last 50 years, dedicated to the human figure and produced by Greek and other European artists.
In the second building, one-man shows as well as group retrospective exhibitions of contemporary artists are organized almost every two months.

Activities

The Frissiras Museum mainly aims to encourage new ways of approach to contemporary painting for children and young people. Special educational programs are organized during every school year for primary and high school students.
As a contemporary cultural constitution, the Frissiras Museum organizes a wide range of events (seminars, lectures, poetry evenings etc.) as well as guided tours.

The museum's Art Shop with a range of art gifts as well as an elegant Cafe are also at the visitor's disposal.
